How to Add Email in Zendesk Easily 2026
By Impran M N
Running support through a single generic inbox makes it hard to scale or keep branding consistent. Zendesk lets you add dedicated support addresses either as native subdomain aliases or by connecting your own company domain. This guide covers both paths, plus how to verify and set a default sending address.
01Open the email channel settings
In Admin Center, expand the Channels sidebar and select the Email settings panel.
02Create a native Zendesk address
Click Add Address to activate a clean folder prefix, like billing@ or sales@, directly on your account subdomain.
03Or connect an external domain
Choose Connect External Address instead if you want to keep your existing professional company email address and branding.
04Configure mail forwarding
If using an external address, set up your mail server to forward messages to the unique Zendesk token provided.
05Verify the connection
Complete the security verification checks so your new mailbox status switches to verified.
06Set your default address
Choose which verified address should be the default sender for outbound message updates.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between a native address and an external one?
A native address uses your Zendesk account subdomain, while an external address lets you keep your own company domain and forward mail into Zendesk.
Do I need to change anything on my mail server?
Only if you're connecting an external domain, in which case you need to set up forwarding rules to route messages to Zendesk.
Why does my new address show as unverified?
Verification tokens can take a few minutes to process, and forwarding rules must be correctly configured for the check to succeed.
Can I have multiple support addresses?
Yes, you can add several native or external addresses and route them to different brands or business rule triggers.
