How to Add Icons to Your Website in Squarespace, Browser Icon, Logo Change 2026 Easily

By Impran M N

If you're launching or redesigning a Squarespace site, your logo and browser icon are two of the first branding details visitors notice. This guide walks through uploading a logo to your site header and setting a matching favicon so your tab icon reflects your brand too.

01Log in and choose your site

Sign in to your Squarespace account (Continue with Google works if that's how your account is linked), then select the website you want to update from your dashboard.

02Open the site header editor

From the dashboard, click Edit or Configure to enter the site editor, then locate Edit Site Header to access your branding controls.

03Upload your logo

In the Site Title & Logo section, click the pencil icon to edit, then choose Add Image and upload a high-resolution PNG or SVG. It appears in your header immediately after uploading.

04Set the browser icon (favicon)

Go to Design and select Browser Icon (on 7.1, search 'favicon' in the dashboard search bar). Upload a square image at least 100x100 pixels in PNG, ICO, JPG, or SVG format.

05Save and verify

Click Save, then clear your browser cache and refresh your site to confirm the new logo and favicon are showing correctly.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What image format should I use for a Squarespace logo?

A high-resolution PNG or SVG works best, since both preserve transparency and stay sharp at different header sizes.

Why isn't my new favicon showing up?

Browsers cache favicons aggressively. Clear your cache or open the site in an incognito window to see the update.

Does the favicon need to be a specific size?

Squarespace requires a square image at least 100 by 100 pixels, saved as PNG, ICO, JPG, or SVG.

Can I use the same image for both the logo and favicon?

You can, but since the favicon displays very small in the browser tab, a simplified icon version of your logo usually looks clearer than the full logo.
