How to Add a Coming Soon Page on Squarespace 2026, Enable Maintenance / Under Construction Page
By Impran M N
Whether you're preparing for launch or working on a redesign, a coming soon page keeps visitors informed while the rest of your site stays hidden. This guide covers two methods: using a cover page as your temporary homepage, and enabling site-wide password protection for a maintenance mode effect.
01Create a new page
In Pages, scroll to the Not Linked section and add a Blank Page or Cover Page named something like Coming Soon.
02Design the coming soon page
Add a bold heading, a short message, your logo, social links, or an email capture form to start building your audience early.
03Set it as your homepage
Open the page's settings and enable Set as Homepage, then save, so visitors only see this page.
04Or use site-wide password protection
Go to Settings, then Site Availability, and select Password Protected as an alternative approach.
05Set a password and message
Enter a password and a short message like Site Coming Soon, then save to lock the entire site.
06Combine both methods if needed
Pair your coming soon page with password protection so you can still collect emails while the full site stays hidden.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between the two coming soon methods?
One sets a cover page as your homepage while the rest of the site stays unlinked; the other password-protects the entire site.
Can I collect emails on my coming soon page?
Yes, you can add an email capture form to your coming soon page to build your subscriber list before launch.
Where do I enable password protection?
Go to Settings, then Site Availability, and choose Password Protected.
Will visitors see the rest of my site while it's coming soon?
No, with the cover page method the rest of your site stays in the Not Linked section, and with password protection the whole site is locked.
Can I remove the coming soon page later?
Yes, once you're ready to launch, you can change the homepage setting or disable password protection.
