How to Attach Documents in Microsoft Loop Easily 2026
By Impran M N
Reference material scattered across disconnected folders makes it hard for your team to find what they need. This guide covers two ways to attach documents in Microsoft Loop — pasting a cloud file link to create an interactive preview card, and uploading a file directly through the workspace sidebar.
01Copy a shared file link
Open your cloud storage app, locate your file, and copy its shared link so you can paste it into Loop.
02Paste it as an inline smart card
Place your cursor on the canvas, paste the document link, and let Loop auto-convert it into a live preview card.
03Or upload directly from the sidebar
Move to the left side panel, click Create New, and choose the Upload a File utility to bring a document in from your computer.
04Select your file
Choose your PDF or Office document from the system file picker and click Open to drop it into your navigation tree.
05Manage permissions
Click the attached file's sharing gear to make sure your team has the right read or edit access.
Frequently asked questions
Where are uploaded files actually stored?
Files uploaded through the sidebar are stored inside personal workspace directories connected to OneDrive for Business.
Is there a file size limit for attachments?
Loop is designed to store external documents at sizes well beyond typical office files, but very large files should still be checked against your organization's storage limits.
Can I rename an attached file inside Loop?
Yes, you can use the sidebar option menu on an attached file to rename its display label without renaming the source file itself.
Why can't my teammate open a file I attached?
This is usually a permissions issue — check the file's sharing settings to make sure your team has read or edit access.
